Beginning my Journey!

This past week I have began trying to implement more inquiry into my lessons.  It is a lot more work trying to find inquiry activities and assembling supplies rather than relying on my faithful powerpoints.  However, I think it has made a difference in student interest, at least for some.  Students that have never really cared to participate in class are asking and even answering questions.  It makes me feel just a tiny bit better about myself.  I leave at the end of the day with a sense of accomplishment rather than a sense of defeat.  If a little more effort on my part can make this difference in my self worth then I am up for it!  I also ordered a couple of books, "Teaching Inquiry-Based Chemistry: Creating Student-Led Scientific Communities", and "Inquiry Based Experiments in Chemistry."  I am very excited for them to get here so that I can get some more ideas to try!

  1. Can you include the type of inquiry based activities you have implemented or are going to implement in your class?
